Section 2 – Standardization of social work - risks and opportunities

The section will explore the benefits of standardization of the profession of social work and will be looking for the downsides of this process. The starting points of the discussions in this section are: (1) Standardization helps to eliminate discrimination in the approach to clients and to prevent inconsistencies in the provision of professional services. (2) On the other hand, standardization creates a feeling of "tied hands" among professional workers, thus undermining the very professionalism that is defined as the ability to make independent decisions in specific situational conditions of the client, and accelerates the emergence of "burnout" of helping professionals.
